MARTIN GEVERS
Growing up in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, in a musical and multilingual family of German heritage, I discovered my love for sound and music early in life. Despite the challenges of conforming to societal norms as a sensitive, introverted child, my family’s deep musical involvement nurtured my innate musicality.
After numerous school changes and earning a B Mus degree in pipe organ and a UPLM in oboe, I moved to Namibia. There, where our third child was born, I taught music at the Windhoek College for the Arts and played as principal oboist in the Windhoek Symphony Orchestra. I also participated in various live performances as oboist in our classical Wind Quintet and sang in a male voice ensemble and the chamber choir ‘Cantare Audire’, which was the winning choir at the 1986 llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales.
Upon returning to South Africa, I continued teaching music at Diocesan College (Bishops) in Rondebosh, Cape Town. For over 35 years, I had taught music, and engaged in all aspects of music making. My journey then expanded into health and personal development as I qualified to practice Body Talk (energy medicine), and Inner Life Skills coaching.
In the last decade, I’ve devoted myself to creating the muse-it Program and it’s related book.
